Pilkington Activ is the world’s original self-cleaning glass and has been specifically designed for conservatories and orangeries. It has been used extensively in the UK for more than ten years and is now available with a range of solar control options.

After years of research and development, Pilkington introduced Pilkington Activ, a range of glass products combining both solar control and self-cleaning abilities, making them a desirable option among available glass solutions.
Pilkington Activ has a one-of-a-kind dual action that keeps glass free of organic dirt, giving you not only the practical advantage of reduced cleaning but also cleaner, better-looking windows.
How Does the Dual Action Coating Work?
About 5-7 days after installation, the special coating will be activated by ultraviolet (UV) light, triggering its self-cleaning property:
1.) Breaking down organic dirt: The coating reacts with UV rays to break down organic dirt, such as tree sap, bird droppings or pollen.
2.) Washing dirt away: When rainwater comes in contact with the glass, it washes away the loosened dirt. With Pilkington Activ glass, the water dries up more quickly, and there is a reduction in unsightly marks or streaks.
